What an amazing day! The entire school was filled with children and their grandparents. We saw children's faces light up as their grandparents arrived. After sharing a lunch together, the children put on a beautiful show for their grandparents. After the grandparent song, I am pretty sure there was not a dry eye in the gymnasium. The children worked with their grandparent to make a great owl project that is decorating the halls at school. We wrapped up the day with Bingo, then a prayer service. Thank you to all those who made this day special. We will be posting pictures on the website soon.
The second graders were in charge of Mass today. They greeted, read and brought up gifts. They had some seriously hard reading parts but did such an amazing job with their parts. They nailed words like Qoheleth, Ecclesiastes, thousand, baptized, and the list goes on. It amazes me how, as second graders, these children are comfortable speaking in front of a group of people. They were a little nervous, so we celebrated a good job with freezies after Mass.
The first book order of the year arrived and we were so excited to see what arrived. With the support of parents ordering books for their homes, we were able to get 9 free books for our classroom library. I am pretty sure the children will all ask for some silent reading time tomorrow. Any thing to get them reading. The next book order form will be going home on Friday. Check out the book order link on the home page if you are interested in ordering. The activation code for our class is NDMGG. Happy Shopping
We got letters back from our Pen Pals in North Dakota and have been working on writing replies to them. The kids are so excited that as soon as we send them, they ask everyday when they will get a return letter. Just don't tell them that it's not all fun, we're learning the Common Core Standards ( L.2.1, L.2.2, L.2.3, W.2.5)
