We have just finished a busy, but amazing week. Monday started with a flag ceremony presented by the Boy and Cub Scouts from our school. They did a great job presenting the colors as well as leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance. We also kicked off a school wide collection of items for the military stationed overseas. We also started a "Souper Bowl" food collection competition.
On Tuesday, we celebrated our St. Thomas Students with relay races in the gym and ice cream sundaes for everyone. We have such an amazing group of student at St. Thomas. It was fun to see them enjoy the activities.
Wednesday was the feast day of St. Thomas Aquinas, our school's name sake and the patron saint of schools and universities. The children [resented their declam pieces. Some of them were very hard, but they all practiced and did a great job.
Thursday we celebrated vocations with a visit from Sister Barbara. Sister talked to the children about how she had to listen to God's call for her. She talked to the children about what it is like to be a nun. One of the children wanted to know if Sisters wore pajamas.
Friday was the grand finale day of the week. We started the day with an all school Mass. Everyone was dressed in their green Catholic Schools Shirts. We looked so nice that we took an all school picture.
The "Souper Bowl" ended with 4th grade winning, but the real winner in it all is the Lake County Food Pantry, who received over 500 non-perishable items. We formed a human chain and passed the food from our school to the food pantry storage area (good thing it is only 2 blocks away).
What a great week. I am so grateful to be a part of such an amazing class and an amazing school.
